Connect Volunteers Bring Local Knowledge to Winter Support

We are pleased to say that in January, 119 free hot lunches were served across Sedgemoor Community Connector’s Connect sessions, providing warm meals and a welcoming space during the winter months.

The lunches were delivered with support from the National Grid Community Fund and made possible by a team of local volunteers. Alongside practical support such as cooking, serving and setting up sessions, volunteers play an important role in shaping how Connect operates.

Many volunteers live in the communities where Connect sessions take place. Their local knowledge and lived experience help ensure sessions remain welcoming, relevant and responsive to the people attending. This insight supports Sedgemoor Community Connector to adapt delivery based on local needs and experiences.

Connect sessions are informal, inclusive spaces where people can access a free hot meal, connect with others and feel welcomed. The involvement of local volunteers helps build trust and strengthen community connection.

Connect sessions continue to run weekly, offering free hot lunches and a warm welcome.

Tuesdays 10-1pm at Recreation Community Hub in Hamp and Fridays 10-1pm at the Rollercoaster in Parkway Sydenham.
