Big Community News: Plans for a Bridgwater Community Hub
Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC is excited to share that plans are moving forward to create a new community hub in Bridgwater town centre.
Over the past few months we have been quietly working behind the scenes to explore how we might create a permanent space for the community – somewhere welcoming where people can connect, share food, learn new skills and access support.
At the moment many of our projects take place in hired community spaces across Bridgwater. While these spaces have helped us reach hundreds of local people, having a permanent home would allow us to grow our work, support more residents and create a consistent place where people know they can always find a warm welcome.
The vision for the hub is to create a friendly, accessible community space that brings people together. Plans are still developing, but the hope is that the hub will offer opportunities for people to meet, take part in activities, build confidence, learn practical skills and simply spend time in good company.
This exciting next step has been made possible thanks to significant private support from someone who believes strongly in the power of community.
There is still much work to do and more details will be shared as the plans develop. Creating the hub will also be a community effort, and we hope local people, organisations and businesses will want to be part of bringing it to life.
As the project develops there will be opportunities for people to get involved — whether that’s through volunteering, sharing ideas, supporting activities or helping shape what the hub becomes.
Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC was founded with the aim of strengthening communities, building connections and helping people feel supported and valued. Creating a permanent community hub would be a major step forward in achieving that vision.
