Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC Joins National Year of Reading
Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC is proud to announce that we are now a partner of the National Literacy Trust’s National Year of Reading.
This exciting national campaign highlights the importance of reading in everyday life – from improving wellbeing and confidence to strengthening connections within our communities. As an organisation rooted in community support and inclusion, we are delighted to play our part in encouraging a love of reading across Bridgwater and beyond.
Throughout the year, we will be getting involved in a range of reading-focused activities, projects, and opportunities designed to make reading accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for everyone.
Celebrating World Book Night with Free Book Giveaways
To mark the occasion, we are taking part in World Book Night this week – a national celebration of reading and books.
As part of this, we are pleased to be offering free books to our community members at our upcoming Connect sessions:
Tuesday – Hamp Connect Session
Friday – Parkway Connect Session
These sessions are open to all, and we warmly encourage anyone to come along, pick up a book, and enjoy a welcoming community space.
Bringing Reading into Our Connect: Neurodivergent Adults Group
We will also be celebrating World Book Night within our Neurodiversity Adults Connect Group on Thursday 23rd April with a special book-themed session. The session will include a visit from Caroline at Bridgwater Library, who will be sharing Neurodiversity friendly books and library resources, we will also enjoy a fun quiz and make bookmarks. This will provide a relaxed and inclusive space to explore reading in a way that suits different preferences and needs.
Why Reading Matters
Reading is something we all engage with in some way, and it plays a vital role in everyday life. Whether it is for learning, relaxation, or connection, access to books and literacy support can make a real difference, particularly for those facing barriers.
By working alongside the National Literacy Trust, we hope to support our community to build confidence, discover new interests, and enjoy the simple pleasure of reading.
Join us this week to pick up a free book and be part of the celebration. We look forward to welcoming you.
