Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC Secures National Lottery Funding to Support Young People

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a new support and training project for young people within our community.

The project will take place at our upcoming community hub in Bridgwater and will focus on offering training opportunities, peer support and confidence-building activities in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

This new programme has been shaped directly by the young people and families we have met through our community work over the past year. Through our sessions and conversations within the community, we have become increasingly aware that many young people – particularly those who are neurodivergent or care experienced – often struggle to access environments that feel supportive, accessible and understanding of their individual needs.

Sedgemoor Community Connector have secured funding from the National Lottery Fund

For some young people, traditional education, employment or training routes can feel overwhelming or simply unsuitable. We believe there is a need for spaces that focus first on confidence, connection and belonging.

Our aim is to create an environment where young people can build confidence at their own pace, develop practical and social skills, access peer support and feel genuinely valued within their community.

The project will focus on relationship building, community connection and creating opportunities for young people to grow in a way that works for them as individuals rather than expecting everyone to fit into the same pathway.

As a small grassroots CIC, receiving support from The National Lottery Community Fund is incredibly significant for us and will allow us to begin developing this much-needed work within Bridgwater.

We would like to thank everyone who continues to support Sedgemoor Community Connector CIC — including our volunteers, community members, partner organisations and supporters. Your encouragement, kindness and belief in our work continue to help us grow and develop services that are truly shaped around community need.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project develops over the coming months.
